1.
Well I stumbled in the darkness Lost and alone Though I said I'd go before us And show the way back home Is there a light up ahead? Can't hold on very long I love you pretty baby but I always take the long way home Money's just something you throw Off the back of a train Got a head full of lightning And a hat full of rain And I know that I said I'd never do it again Forgive me pretty baby but I always take the long way home I put food on the table And a roof overhead But I'd trade it all tomorrow For the highway instead Watch your back if I should say Your love's the only thing I've ever known One thing’s for sure pretty baby, I always take the long way home Well you know I love you baby More than the whole wide world You are my woman You know you are my pearl Let's go out back past the party lights Where we can finally be alone Come with me… and we can take the long way home Come with me, together, and we can take the long way home (rpt forever)

about

Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPXrdEadwv4

Because my breathing-in-the-thick-of-it tends toward sentimental conceptualism, I asked a bunch of friends to send me videos and voices for this cover of Tom Waits's "Long Way Home." Deep years of thanks behind and ahead to everyone who appears and sings, to all my friends who have kept me holding on and finding home. Forever hoping to see you on the back of the train.

This single is free to download, but if you feel like downloading it with money, all money will be sent to the Southern Oregon Coalition for Racial Equity, Caring Choices, and Haven of Hope on Wheels in Oroville, CA— for helping individuals affected by the September 2020 fires in Northern California and Southern Oregon. clementinewasright.com

Clementine Was Right is the songwriting project of Denver- based poets Mike Young and Gion Davis.

Chronicling years of uprooting, the music gallops and sways through lyric-driven, hook-smeared bootgaze and western emo, harmonizing and storytelling.
